Pack your bags and head to Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania. Washington Crossing is home to the historic site of where General George Washington crossed the Delaware River on Christmas Night. Take a stroll through the park, have a picnic by the Delaware River, stop in the visitors center then tour the historic village to see the Durham boats, homes, tavern and other businesses from the revolutionary days as you fully emerge yourself into the historic time period.
Throughout the year Washington Crossing Historic Park hosts family-fun events as well as adult only activities to learn about the historic significance of the park as well as enjoy the gorgeous location. These events include the Washington Crossing Spring Brewfest, Memorial Day Ceremony with Revolutionary War Reenactors, the Colonial Color Guard, and Fife and Drum Music, the 1776 Historic Christmas Night River Crossing Reenactment, and more!
After spending the day touring the Washington Crossing Historic Park have dinner and a cocktail at the colonial style Washington Crossing Inn. The Washington Crossing Inn is located directly across the street from the park. The Inn serves delicious signature cocktails, including my favorite the Cherry Tree Martini. In addition to the outstanding drinks, the menu is just as spectacular! If you are considering a salad, I recommend the Roasted Golden Beet Salad or the President's Caesar Salad. For dinner entrees I recommend the Mushroom and Squash Risotto and the Crossing Vodka Rigatoni. During the warmer months, enjoy sitting on the patio for dinner with dainty twinkle lights, majestic fountains, and beautiful flowers and plants. During the summer and fall spend an afternoon at the Washington Crossing Inn's Beer Garden while enjoying a drink, playing corn hole, and taking in the magical garden ambience. If you are not a beer fan, I recommend the Lovely Lavender Signature Summer Cocktail.
Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania is a fun, nature filled, historical location to explore! From its gorgeous river views, historical homes, beautiful environment, and friendly community, it is the perfect location to visit. When you are in town be sure to check out the surrounding areas: New Hope, Lambertville, Lahaska, Newtown, Princeton, and more!
